DRAMA CLUB UK TOUR 1987
In 1987, the SSHS Drama Club and a few other SSHS students undertook a tour to the UK. The tour was organized by Mr. Dencer and Mr. Stevens with the support and approval of the Board of Trustees and the SSHS Administration. The whole tour was planned by the two SSHS teachers - including our tour schedule, all hotels and a bus to take the group around England and Scotland . The group was accompanied by two parent-volunteers as chaperones.
Highlights of the tour included London, Windsor, Stratford (Shakespeare territory), Oxford, York, Howarth (Bronte territory), the Lake District, and Edinburgh.
As well as seeing the usual “tourist sights”, we attended a London theatre performance, a banquet, visited a giant bookstore, a soccer game, ate a specially organized pub dinner and indulged in fish and chips, pork pies, eccles cakes and many more UK culinary delicacies.
It was an exhausting but extremely worthwhile tour.
