Steps From Beyond” was the SSHS Drama Club’s first entry in the N.B. Provincial Drama Festival. This intriguing mystery, with a touch of the supernatural, was the only Canadian-written play in the 1969-70 Festival. It won an “Honourable Mention” from the adjudicator.
“Steps From Beyond” also brought us a our first lesson in the “politics” of the Provincial Drama Festival. Despite the “rules” saying that play sets must be minimal, we noticed that some schools arrived with, literally, truck loads of scenery and were then commended for the set used in their play performance.
