FINIAN’S RAINBOW

The April, 1984 Musical Theatre production was the older, more traditional Broadway type of show...”Finian’s Rainbow”. Some difficult, but wonderful, music challenged our performers but the local newspaper critic described their performances as “brilliant”. Nevertheless the show’s review was somewhat critical of the show itself. The published review brought letters of support for the SSHS Drama Club in response to the critic’s negative statements about the production. The controversy was, however, nothing like the furor over “Annie Get Your Gun” (as someone once said: “there’s no such thing as bad publicity!”). “Finian’s Rainbow” had some enchanting moments in telling a story with more than a touch of whimsy, romance and political satire.
