THREE ONE -ACT PLAYS:

Dora The Beautiful Dishwasher (or The Heroine Who Cleaned Up!)
Night Fright
Tell-Tale Heart

(1982)

NIGHT FRIGHT

The three one-act plays were mainly designed to be an evening of entertainment to be performed by the SSHS Drama Club on its Exchange Visit to LaSalle High School in Montreal. “Dora” was a typical Victorian melodrama that gave ample opportunity to those in our group who enjoyed acting ‘over the top’. “Night Fright” was a neat mystery-comedy. “Tell-Tale Heart” was a taut thriller true to the Edgar Allan Poe story of the same name. The latter chilled the audiences with the throbbing heartbeat sound effect! The Montreal tour was preceded by a performance of the three plays in St. Stephen.

The exchange visit to Montreal was a highlight of the year. It was hosted by Gordon Day, a LaSalle HS Drama teacher. We did the plays in alternating cycles - performing them in alternating pairs over the two days and nights of school open houses. Each performance got a warm audience reception. The Montreal visit featured visits to the Expo site and other Montreal attractions, and to a Montreal Expos baseball game against the LA Dodgers. It was a great tour!
