GREASE! (2008)
Back by popular demand (and the need for more money), was the ever-popular “Grease!”....but would it be as successful this time compared to the 1997 production which sold out every seat in every performance? Answer:....not quite...this time we sold "only" 96% of the tickets available (audience total for the show's run was 4038). The 18th. YMT production was another success as its lively and poignant story about the loves and lives of teenagers in the 1950’s didn’t disappoint. The cast gave a performance of energy and enthusiasm that easily won over the majority of the audience.
Anecdotes: the show was preceded by a “teachers’” rock ’n’ roll band called “The Authorities” who did a great job ‘warming up” the audience. Jane Hayhoe and, yes, Yar Recned reprised their “adult” roles in the show as they had in 1997. The “Grease” lobby display photos were taken at Ann Marie’s cafe. “Greased Lightning” was a vintage car that was never for sale on the North American market...it was prepared for stage use by the Yale Automotive Class.
