THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1994)

What is considered by some as the world’s best known musical, “The Sound Of Music”, became the focus of our attentions for this school year. It was the third time I had directed this show but it remains a favourite of mine as it never seems to fail as an attraction to good size audiences. That was the case for this production.
Once again we were rewarded with so many positive comments about the production.....here’s a few of them: “as usual, everything was first class”; “the final performance was proof that they were truly successful” (a reference to the standing ovation); “please convey our thanks to all those who contributed to this memorable event”; “It was very obvious by the applause that everyone enjoyed it as much as I did”.
The revolving set built by a combination of parent volunteers, teachers and students, helped us through the numerous scene changes in this demanding show. Once again I found myself indebted to the numerous members of the “YMT Team” for making this undertaking possible.
By the way, this was the first production created as part of the newly developed Yale Musical Theatre course.
Anecdote: Baron Von Dencer’s name was on a tombstone in the Church scene.
