MY FAIR LADY (1992)

Our choice for the second Musical Theatre production was Lerner & Loewe’s classic musical “My Fair Lady” based on G.B. Shaw’s “Pygmalion”. Once again, Mrs. Brayton’s Stagecraft students and a number of volunteers created an interesting set design that represented Covent Garden, the residence of Henry Higgins, Ascot race course and various other locations that were necessary to tell the story in this production. Great costuming to represent the 1912 time-frame made another visual impact on the audience. Peter Jahutka, who had played in the Orchestra for “The King & I”, did an outstanding job as Henry Higgins with Sherisse Porlier starring as Eliza Doolittle. Once again we were fortunate to have numerous supporting cast members who more than adequately supported the lead performers. The tuneful musical score was ably provided by our musicians. The success of our first production brought a larger audience to the Abbey Arts Centre for this production and they were well-entertained.
