The Yale Secondary School Musical Theatre Group was formed in September, 1990. It produces an annual full-scale musical held at the Abbey Arts Centre in Abbotsford, B.C. The Musical Theatre course was introduced to Yale Secondary School as a locally-developed course in 1993. It is now recognized as fully accredited Board Approved Courses in Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. The class enrols between 50 and 125 students. Musical Theatre places its emphasis on experiential learning. The course is intended to provide students with an understanding of the elements of Musical Theatre, examining both performance and technical aspects of the Musical Theatre genre within the framework of a Musical Theatre Production Company.
Please Note: Some of the material used in this portion of the “Broken-Pencils.ca” website has been adapted from the original Yale Secondary School Musical Theatre website that I created and maintained for a number of years. The original Yale Secondary Musical Theatre website was used as a “teaching device” as well as for information and “souvenir” purposes. My original Yale Musical Theatre website has been withdrawn from the server as it was no longer going to be maintained as the “official” Yale Musical Theatre website. The material included on the original website would no longer necessarily be relevant to the Musical Theatre program in the school as it currently exists.
“Broken-Pencils.ca” is NOT affiliated in any way to the Yale Secondary School Musical Theatre program and should not be construed as currently representative of that program. For information on the current Yale Secondary School Musical Theatre program, please contact the school.
